Bhubaneswar-Bound Bus Catches Fire After Hitting Bike As 3 Killed In Separate Road Mishaps In Odisha

Jajpur: At least three people were killed in two separate road accidents Odisha’s Jajpur and Sonepur districts on Monday.

According to sources, two motorcyclists were killed after the bikes they were riding collided head-on near Katapali under Binika police limits in Sonepur district.

While one of the bikers died on the spot, the other motorcyclist was rescued by locals in a critical condition and rushed to VIMSAR in Burla. However, he succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

In another mishap, a biker was killed while two others were critically injured after their two-wheeler was hit by a passenger bus near Chhatia in Jajpur district.

Sources said the incident took place when the private bus carrying passengers was proceeding to Bhubaneswar from Balasore.

Soon after the collision, the bus caught fire creating panic among passengers. However, all the passengers were rescued safely and none of them was hurt, they said.

On being informed, a police team rushed to the spot and sent the body for autopsy. Fire Service personnel from Chandikhol reached the spot and launched an operation to douse the flame.
