Bhubaneswar: The well-known media house – India Today Group – will organise a day-long conclave here on Saturday to showcase Odisha’s limitless potential in various sectors.
The India Today State of the State Conclave Odisha-2024 will have wide-ranging discussions with experts on various fronts, from Odisha’s industrial environment and its talent pool to its performance and possibilities in healthcare, education, sports, business and women’s rights.
After an introduction by India Today Group Editorial Director (Publishing) Raj Chengappa, the conclave will begin with a discussion on the state’s industrial potential, in particular the big growth areas. The participants will include Odisha Minister for Energy, Industries and MSMEs Pratap Keshari Deb; Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary of Industries Department; Anil Kumar Singh, President, JSW STEEL; former FICCI President and Managing Director of Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Subhrakant Panda; and Aditya Dash, Managing Director, The Suryo Group.
The next session will see a discussion on skilling Odisha’s workforce, between Principal Secretary of the state’s Skill Development and Technical Education Department Usha Padhee and Prof. Pradipta Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of Siksha O Anusandhan, a deemed-to-be university in Bhubaneswar.
This will be followed by a conversation on healthcare, involving Dr Bishnu Prasad Mohapatra, Additional Director SHAS, Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana; Dr Pusparaj Samantsinghar, Medical Superintendent of the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar; and Dr Kislay Anand, Hospital Chief Operating Officer of Care Hospitals.
The final session before lunch will be on Odisha’s education sector, and will focus on how schools can become more inclusive and tech-enabled. The participants will be Anupam Saha, Project Director of the Odisha School Educational Programme Authority; Panchami Manoo Ukil, Vice-Chairperson of The DN Wisdom Tree Global School; and Indramani Tripathy, Director (ST) and Additional Secretary of the STSC Development Department.
After lunch, the conclave will turn to athletic pursuits, in a discussion titled ‘Odisha: The New Hub of Indian Sports’. The keynote address will be given by MoS for Sports and Youth Services (Independent charge) Tusharkanti Behera, with participants including athlete Srabani Nanda and David John, Director of Hockey Odisha.
The following session will examine the world of Odisha’s start-ups, in a discussion featuring Dr Omkar Rai, Executive Chairman of Startup Odisha; Priyadarshi Mohapatra, Founder and CEO of Curebay; Devesh Sinha, Founding Member of Bhubaneswar Angels; and Akanksha Priyadarshini, Founder and CEO of Aurassure. After that, Sujata Karthikeyan, Commissioner cum Secretary in the Department of Mission Shakti, will share her views on the state of women’s empowerment in India, and Odisha in specific.
Before an intermission for tea, the conclave will turn to Odisha’s religious and cultural revival, in a talk including dancer and choreographer and Secretary of the Orissa Dance Academy, Guru Aruna Mohanty, and Master Chef Abinas Nayak.
After the tea break, India Today Group Editorial Director (Publishing) Raj Chengappa will offer a quick introduction of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The chief minister will then share his perspectives on the state’s administrative goals and priorities in the conclave’s Keynote Address, titled ‘The Odisha Model of Governance’.
After the chief minister’s speech, the conclave will wind down with a talk on strategy, in a session titled ‘The 5 T Strategy: From Vision to Execution’, with V. Kartikeya Pandian, Chairman of 5T (Transformational Initiatives) and Nabin, Odisha.
