Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is gearing up for three major events to be observed by the party in a big way across the state in the coming month.
Addressing a press meet in Bhubaneswar, BJD’s national spokespersons Santrupt Misra and Sasmit Patra shared information about a host of programmes planned by the party for the 108th birth anniversary of legendary Biju Patnaik on March 5 and International women’s day on March 8.
Stating that the birth anniversary of the former Chief Minister is observed every year by the admirers and followers of the late leader, they said BJD workers and leaders have chalked out elaborate plans this time also.
Party leaders and workers would garland the statues of Biju Patnaik on the premised of the state Assembly in Bhubaneswar and in all panchayats in the morning of March 5.
Cycle processions and marathons would also be organised on the occasion, while BJD leaders would make people aware of the contribution of Biju Patnaik. Party workers would take pledge to work for the development of the state.
Similarly, the International Women’s Day would be observed in a fitting manner in all Assembly constituencies to highlight the various steps taken by the Naveen Patnaik government for the empowerment of women in the state.
Likewise, the death anniversary of Biju Patnaik would be observed by the party in a simple way in the state, the BJD leaders said.
