New Delhi: In a first, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct the Constable (GD) examination for recruitment in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in 13 regional languages, including Odia, Union Ministry of Home Affairs said on Sunday.
About 48 lakh candidates in 128 cities are likely to take the examination to be conducted from February 20 to March 7, 2024. Apart from Hindi and English, the examination will be conducted in Odia, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri and Konkani.
The Ministry of Home Affairs and Staff Selection Commission have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for smooth conduct of the examination in the regional languages.
The decision would benefit youth who studied in vernacular mediums and are not well-versed in Hindi or English, increasing their prospects for selection.
