New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct special exams for students participating in national and international sports events, including recognised Olympiads, in 2025.
This initiative, aimed at helping students to balance academics and extracurricular excellence, was started in 2018.
Students whose CBSE board exam dates overlap with sports events recognised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) or the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) stand to benefit from this thoughtful provision. Journey days to and from host cities are considered for such student athletes.
The policy is also applicable for students competing in International Olympiads. Recognised Olympiads include those authorised by bodies such as the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE).
CBSE’s decision is in accordance with the Indian government’s focus on promoting youth sports, to ensure students excelling in sports or academics are not disadvantaged during board exams.
No student should suffer academic losses due to their dedication to representing the nation.
