Cement plant with Rs 4,000 crore investment to come up in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday announced that several projects, including a cement plant, would be taken up for development of Malkangiri district. The chief minister made the announcement after a high-level review meeting on the development of the district.

He said the development of Swabhiman Anchal in the district would be stressed in deciding the location of the projects. The projects would be implemented under direct supervision of RDC (southern) and district collector.

In order to boost employment opportunities for the local people, a cement factory with an estimated cost of Rs 4,000 crore will come up in the district. It will provide employment opportunities for 2,000 youths, Majhi announced.

A six-lane special corridor to connect southern Odisha with northern part would be constructed. It would start from Motu and end at Tiring of Mayurbhanj district passing through Malkangiri. He also said the process of land acquisition for railway projects in the district would be taken up soon.

The review meeting, held at the DRDA Conference Hall in Malkangiri, was attended by Minister Nityananda Gond, MP Balabhadra Majhi, other people’s representatives, RDC (Southern), collector and senior officials.
