Bhubaneswar: The minimum temperature dropped to 11 degree Celsius in G Udayagiri, which has been recording the lowest temperature in Odisha for the last few days, ushering in winter, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Monday.
“The lowest night temperature in the month of October was recorded at G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district,” it tweeted.
The minimum temperature hovered between 13 and 17 degree Celsius at seven other places – Daringbadi (13), Koraput (13.2), Phulbani (13.5), Kirei (14.8), Bhawanipatna (15.5), Angul (16) and Keonjhar (16.8).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 20 degree Celsius (-1.7) and 20.4 degree Celsius (-0.6) respectively last night.
The MeT office has also forecast light rain in Odisha from November 1-3 under the influence of the eastward movement of waves on Bay of Bengal. Light rain may occur at one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Rayagada and Koraput districts on November 1. Light to moderate rain/ thunderstorm is also likely at one or two places in South coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri during the subsequent 24 hours.
Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm may also occur at one or two places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts on November 3 with little change in the weather conditions during the subsequent two days.
There will be no large change in maximum and minimum temperature during next 5 days, it added.
