Bhubaneswar: There has been a decrease in the intensity of rains in Odisha with the system losing steam and moving over to North Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.
“Yesterday’s depression over North Chhattisgarh and adjoining interior Odisha moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 20 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centered at 8.30 am over North Chhattisgarh, 70 km east-southeast of Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), 140 km northeast of Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and 220 km east of Malanjkhand (East Madhya Pradesh).It is very likely to move west-northwestwards across north Chhattisgarh and weaken into a well-marked low pressure area over Chhattisgarh and adjoining East Madhya Pradesh around evening,” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its midday bulletin.
The weather agency has warned of isolated heavy rainfall in Sundargarh, Bargarh and Jharsuguda district on September 10. There is thunderstorm with lighting warning for Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar during the subsequent 24 hours (September 11).
On September 12, isolated heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning may resume in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorm with lightning may also occur at isolated places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts.
Heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm/lightning may occur at isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh on September 13. Thunderstorm with lightning is also likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati districts.
On September 14, heavy rainfall may continue at isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh.
Though there is no warning thereafter, light to moderate rain/thundershower may continue at a few places across the state during the subsequent 2 days.
