Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary of Odisha Manoj Ahuja on Monday inaugurated a three-day State Level e-Governance workshop and an exhibition on Artificial Intelligence (AI) at National Informatics Centre (NIC) here.
Citing different examples of use of AI both in Central and State governments, the Chief Secretary emphasized that leveraging AI-based knowledge system and other emerging technologies are necessary in accelerating various welfare schemes in the state.
During the inaugural session, young scientists from NIC showcased their expertise and creativity across 14 topics using models and simulations powered by AI. Interacting with the young scientists, he gave suggestions on how to make more effective use of artificial intelligence, bring new innovation and to enhance their efficiency.
R. S. Gopalan, Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. He shared his insights on artificial intelligence, particularly focusing on Policy Intelligence Powering Generative AI Safety & Governance.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from NIC scientists, District Informatics Officers, and staff, who engaged in extensive discussions on the diverse applications of artificial intelligence in upcoming projects. On this occasion, the ‘Project profile for the year 2025’ and a booklet on ‘Gov.AI exhibition’were unveiled by the distinguished guests.
The program was presided over by Dr. Ashok Kumar Hota, Deputy Director General and State Informatics Officer, NIC, Odisha and Surendra Nath Behera offered the vote of thanks. Jayanta Kumar Mishra, Head, Training Division, NIC, Odisha conducted the programme.
