Enjoy But Not At Others Cost, Says CP On ‘Zero Night’ Celebration In Odisha’s Twin Cities

Bhubaneswar: Enjoy but not at the cost of others, Commissioner of Police (CP) S K Priyadarshi said on Thursday while speaking on ‘Zero Night’ celebration in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

“Bhubaneswar DCP had called a meeting with concerned stakeholder including hotel and apartment owners. They have requested to abide by the deadline issued for the celebration. The organisers have been asked to monitor liquor consumption,,” he said

The CP further said that patrolling and block-checking have been increased in the twin cities to keep a check on trouble makers. “Special squads will be mobilised. If anyone is caught drinking liquor on roadside, action will be taken on the spot,” he said, adding that 50 platoons will be deployed in these cities.

Notably, Zero Night celebrations in hotels in Odisha capital will be allowed till 12.30 am. Hotels/bars are required to seek special permission to extend celebrations till 1.30 am. The organisers have been asked to implement additional security measures, address parking concerns, provide extra drivers to safely transport intoxicated individuals to their homes. They have also been advised to have an ambulance on standby.

Notably, many premium hotels in Bhubaneswar are selling tickets at prices ranging from Rs 5,000 per ticket to Rs 9,000 for ‘Zero Night’, which include live music, performance, unlimited food and beverages, games and activities. Local revellers have also booked their stay for New Year’s Eve and New Year.
