New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday issued instructions to be followed by Union ministers during the two-day G20 Summit on September 9 and 10.
The ministers have been told not to use their official vehicles and avail of the shuttle service to reach Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan and other venues of various meetings.
At a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers, the PM also asked them to download the G20 India mobile app and make best use of its translation and other features to converse with foreign dignitaries, officials told PTI.
The G20 mobile app has an instant translation feature incorporating all Indian languages and those of G20 nations.
Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra briefed the ministers in detail about the protocol and related matters.
The PM asked the ministers to familiarise themselves with the cultures of respective foreign delegates they have been assigned to attend.
Chief ministers of different states invited to a dinner on September 9 have been asked to arrive at Parliament House complex by 5.30 pm, and then use a shuttle to reach the venue, Bharat Mandapam.
It was made clear that no one will speak about the G20 meeting, except those ministers authorised to do so. Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra briefed the ministers in detail about the protocol and related matters.
Of the 40 world leaders expected to attend the summit, some have started arriving. Union Minister of State for Health SPS Singh Baghel received President of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the airport on Tuesday night.
