Govt clerk sentenced to 3-year RI in bribe case in Rayagada

Koraput: A Vigilance court in Odisha’s Koraput district has sentenced a former development clerk to rigorous imprisonment for 3 years in a bribe case.

The Vigilance had arrested Prakash Kumar Sahu, former development clerk in the office of CDPO, Chandrapur in Rayagada district for accepting bribe from a complainant for issuing work order to execute work under MLALAD Fund.

Following investigation, Koraput Vigilance had filed the chargesheet. On hearing the case, Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore convicted Sahu and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 years. The Judge also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.

In default of payment of fine, the court ordered Sahu to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 3 more months.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Sahu from service following his conviction.
