Govt School Headmaster In Odisha’s Jajpur Showcaused For Attending Duty In Drunken State

Jajpur: The headmaster of a government school in Odisha’s Jajpur district was served show-cause notice for attending duty in an inebriated state.

According to the reports, the headmaster of a primary school in Dharmasala was served the notice after the school managing committee and several parents reported the incident to the Block Education Officer. They demanded strict action against the headmaster.

The officer issued the notice to the headmaster on Thursday, asking him to reply in three days, reported the India Today.

A video showcasing the headmaster in an inebriated state had gone viral. The same video was shown to the committee. The headmaster is seen lying on the road just a few yards from the school.

Abhijit Barik, the Dharmasala Block Education Officer, told PTI that appropriate actions would be taken based on the headmaster’s response.

This is not the first such incident. Last year, three similar cases were reported in Jajpur district.

Similar incidents have surfaced in other states as well. In March this year, students from a primary school in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar chased away a drunk teacher. They threw slippers at him.

In February, a teacher from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, was also suspended for arriving at school in a drunken state.
