New Delhi: US President-elect Donald Trump has nominated an Indian American entrepreneur and former aide of Elon Musk, Sriram Krishnan, as the Senior White House Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence. Chennai-born Krishnan will work closely with David Sacks, the White House AI and Crypto Czar. They will work to shape and coordinate AI policy for the Donald Trump administration.
“Sriram Krishnan will focus on ensuring continued American leadership in AI and help shape and coordinate AI policy across government, including working with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology,” Trump stated in a post on Truth Social.
Krishnan had held senior positions at tech giants, including Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook and Snap in the past. He will now be working in coordination with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology as well. “I’m honoured to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI,” the Indian American responded to the news of his nomination.
Who is Krishnan?
Krishnan had moved to the US after completing his graduation in India. Besides being a tech leader, he is also a venture capitalist, podcaster, and author. He co-hosted The Aarthi and Sriram Show with his wife, Aarthi Ramamurthy, which focused on various aspects of startups. It earned a good reputation in the entrepreneurial community.
In 2022, Krishnan said he was collaborating with Elon Musk on the rebuilding of Twitter after the latter took over the platform. It was then speculated that Krishnan would be the next CEO of Twitter. According to reports, he had also played a role in reconnecting former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson with Elon Musk.
