Mohan Cabinet: All 4 gates of Jagannath temple to be opened tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: All four gates of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will be opened for devotees from Thursday, new Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Wednesday.

Majhi, who chaired the first cabinet meeting shortly after the BJP government took oath, told reporters that the four doors of the 12th century shrine will be opened on Thursday morning in the presence of the members of the council of ministers.

Four important decisions in line with the pre-poll promises made by the BJP were taken at the first cabinet meeting of the Mohan Majhi-led government held at Lok Seva Bhawan.

“Devotees will have access to Puri Jagannath temple through all four gates from tomorrow morning,” he said, adding that the decision was taken as per the promise made by the BJP in its election manifesto for the recent Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the state.

Sharing information about other important decisions taken at the cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said that a corpus fund of Rs 500 crore will be created for the overall development of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.

Similarly, Samruddha Krushak Niti Yojana will be implemented in the state soon for the progress and welfare of the farming community. A committee will be formed very soon for implementation of the proposal to increase the MSP for paddy to Rs 3100 per quintal, he said.
