Odisha Budget 2024: BJP Govt brings new schemes to strengthen primary education

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to strengthen school education and check dropout, the Odisha government on Thursday proposed a number of schemes with substantial allocations in the State Budget for 2024-25.

In its maiden budget presented in the Assembly by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the BJP government proposed a new scheme ‘Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya’ with an allocation of Rs 50 crore. The scheme is aimed at providing quality teaching at primary school level for children in rural and semi-urban areas of the state, the Chief Minister said while presenting the budget.

Similarly, in order to check dropout, the government proposed to implement another new scheme ‘Madho Singh Haath Kharcha’. Under the scheme, every Scheduled Tribe (ST) student having passed out 8th/10th class and taking admission in 9th/ 11th class will be provided with Rs 5000 annually as an incentive.

There is another proposal to distribute laptops to meritorious students under ‘Godabarisha Vidyarthi Protsahana Yojana’ for which an allocation of Rs 54 crore has been made, the CM said.

‘Mo School’ is proposed to be renamed as ‘Panchasakha Shikshya Setu Abhiyan’ with a proposed outlay of Rs 332 crore in the budget.
