Odisha Cabinet: Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana to benefit 15 lakh farmers in 5 years  

Bhubaneswar: Seven proposals of six departments including Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana (MKY) were approved in the State Cabinet Meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday.

Briefing the press about the decisions taken in the Cabinet, Minister for Works, Law & Excise Prithviraj Harichandan said the State Sector umbrella scheme – MKY – will be implemented for five years from 2024-25 to 2028-29 with a budgetary outlay of Rs.1423.47 crore under 8 sub-schemes. This scheme aims to increase the milk production of the State benefiting 15,47,837 farmers in five years, he informed.

The proposal to amend the Clause 4(6) of Odisha Public Distribution System (Control) Order, 2016 for replacing institutional dealers in place of private dealers also got the approval of the Cabinet. The order has also been extended to 31.03.2026. The 2016 order was issued for the better management of public distribution system. At present, the public distribution system is being managed by 11,931 fair price shops. Out of which, 5,292 are private dealers, 4,028 run by Gram Panchayats, 2,161 run by women SHGs, 162 run by Self-Help Groups, 246 run by cooperatives and 42 run by other organizations in the State.

Other 5 Proposals:

1. The draft Data Dissemination Policy of Official Statistics, 2024 for Directorate of Economics & Statistics (DE&S) under Planning & Convergence Department, was approved. It will provide a framework for dissemination of statistical data / product of the DE&S and facilitate release of official statistics in a timely manner following a fixed calendar.

2. The tender of Iron Triangle Ltd to construct 550 residential quarters (200 D-Type and 350 E-Type) with community hall and play ground for staff of Orissa High Court at Sector-13, CDA in 10 acres of land on turnkey basis with a cost of Rs.220,40,64,000.

3. The fees of Advocate General, Orissa for appearance before the High Court, Supreme Court, other authorities and tribunals were increased. The last such revision was made vide Notification No. 3470//L, dated 21.04.2016.

4. Following the enactment of new criminal laws – Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita-2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita-2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam-2023, the amendment of Odisha Superior Judicial Service and Odisha Judicial Service Rules-2007was approved to strengthen the legal accumbency, administrative capability and enlighten the Judicial Officers regarding court management.

5. Closure of First Session of 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly.

Minister for Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water & Rural Development Rabi Narayan Naik was also present during the press briefing.
