Bhubaneswar: Odisha takes the first position in the nutrition implementation in whole country. The State has implemented Mukhyamantri Sampurna Pusti Yojana and Pada Pusti Karjyakarma to strengthen the nutrition status, said Minister for Women & Child Department and Mission Shakti Basanti Hembram said here on Saturday.
Addressing the State-level Nutrition Month celebrations organised at Home Economic Training Centre here, Hembram said anganwadi centres and monthly community based programme have created public awareness about the importance of nutrition. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the remarkable success in nutrition intake of State has been achieved and the nutrition budget has designed for the first time in the whole country, she added.
The nutrition month is celebrated in September month of every year.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Women & Child Development Department Shubha Sarma said the development in nutrition sector ultimately brings the development of State. On the basis of the 5T, the beneficiaries easily get the nutrition food and the monetary benefits under Mamata scheme. About 2000 unreachable tribal areas of State have got registered under Pada Pusti program and like Mo Chatua and Anda about 32 lakhs programs has already been carried out.
The District Social Welfare Officers (DSWO) from all districts shared their experience of the best practice of nutrition. The video showing the function of Mukhyamantri Sampurna Pusti Karyakrama and Pada Pusti Karjyakarma was screened.
Dr. Dinabandhu Panda, Special Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr. Monalisa Lenka, Additional Secretary, Panchayat Raj and Drinking Water Department, Sri Gouranga Charana Swain, Joint Director, Agriculture and Farmer’s Empowerment Department and Sri Girish Chandra Swain, Additional Secretary, School and Mass Education were also present in this closing ceremony.
The Additional Secretaries of the department Gitarani Pattanaik, Nityanada Barik, Sambit Nayak and the State Consultant Deepali Das coordinated the program. N.C. Jyotiranjan Nayak, Additional Secretary, Women and Child Development Department gave the welcome address and offered vote of thanks.
