Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday unearthed two multi-storey building, 18 plots and 850 gram gold jewellery during raids on Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Jeypore Block & in-charge Municipal Engineer, Jeypore Municipality, Biswanath Patro on allegation of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to Vigilance sources, simultaneous house searches are on by teams by 1 additional SP, 2 DSPs, 8 inspectors, 6 ASIs, and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge Vigilance, Jeypore, at 6 places in Jeypore, Ganjam and Bhubaneswar.
Assets detected in the names of Patro and his family members are as follows:
- A triple-storey building over 7,200 sqft area at Jeypore town.
- One double-storey building over 3,400 sqft area at Koli Sahi, Belaguntha, Ganjam.
- 18 plots – 6 in prime areas of Bhubaneswar, one each in Jeypore town and Berhampur town and 10 at Jagannathprasad, Ganjam.
- Gold jewellery weighing 850 gram.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the buildings/plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing. Bank, insurance & postal deposits and other investments are also being ascertained.
The sources further stated that Patro joined as adhoc assistant engineer in 2011 with monthly remuneration of 14,000. In 2016, he cleared the OPSC exam and was given regular appointment as AEE.
The raids are on at these following places:
1) Triple-storey building located at Jeypore .
2) Two-storey building at Paternal land Koli Sahi, Belaguntha, Ganjam.
3) Office chamber of Patro at Jeypore block.
4) His office chamber at Jeypore Municipality.
5) Office chamber of his spouse at DIET, Jeypore.
6) House of his relative located at Niladri Vihar (Patia), Bhubaneswar.
