Odisha’s first BJP Govt. to take oath at Janata Maidan on June 10

Bhubaneswar: The oath taking ceremony of Odisha’s first BJP government will be held at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar on June 10.

According to sources, Governor Raghubar Das will administer the oath of office to the new chief minister and his Cabinet ministers at the sprawling field of the Janata Maidan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah besides the chief ministers of NDA-ruled states are likely to attend the function.

The sources further said a team of 50 government officers has been assigned the responsibility to make the arrangements for the official function. The team comprising additional secretaries and joint secretaries includes 9 IAS officers, one OFS and 40 senior OAS officers, the sources said.

The team of officers has been told to attend a meeting to be conducted by managing director of IDCO Bhupinder Singh Punia in this regard on June 8. The meeting, which will be held in Idco Tower, will discuss the arrangements for the function in details.

Earlier, BJP’s state president Manmohan Samal had said the party’s parliamentary board will decide the name of the chief minister soon. The parliamentary board of BJP is scheduled to meet after the Central leaders hold discussion with party MPs from the state. The MPs have left for Delhi on Thursday.

It may be noted that the BJP has won comfortable majority in 147-member Assembly by bagging 78 seats in the elections that concluded recently. The saffron party had gone to the elections under the leadership of Narendra Modi without projecting a chief minister candidate.

During his election campaign in the state, Modi had said the party will pick the CM candidate, who will be a ‘Bhoomiputra’, on June 6 and he or she would be sworn-in as the CM in Bhubaneswar on June 10.
