Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Thursday pulled up the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on civic issues in the city ahead of Dussehra festival.
Hearing a petition on the matter, a bench of the High Court comprising Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo and Justice V Narasingh said despite the Works department submission in the court to complete repair of damaged roads before the festival, only patch work has been done.
The bench warned the CMC that if the repair works of the city roads are not completed by October 5 or false report is submitted in the court, action would be taken for not following its order.
The court had heard the petition on September 26 and directed the CMC to take steps to repair the damaged roads before Dussehra.
Appearing before the High Court on virtual mode, secretary, Works department had said the road repair works would be completed by October 5. The court had fixed next date for hearing of the case on October 3.
Taking up other issues during the hearing, the court directed the CMC to ensure proper street-lights in the city. The bench also ordered to follow its order on not allowing high-decibel music during procession and ensure smooth management of traffic movement.
