Police IG reviews security for President’s visit to Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Eastern Range Himanshu Kumar Lal on Sunday reviewed the security arrangements for the visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district from Monday.

According to sources, the IGP attended a meeting of the Reserve Police Force (RPF) and the district police personnel to be deployed in the security arrangement of the President at the local stadium in Rairangpur town of the district.

He also held a meeting with Mayurbhanj SP S Susree in this regard. At least 56 platoons of force including special police teams have been deployed for the President’s security arrangement.

As per the schedule released by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President will arrive at Baripada helipad from Kalaikunda airport in West Bengal at 1.55 pm on Monday. She will attend All India Santali Writers’ Conference at Sahid Smruti Bhawan in Baripada and may stay in her residence at Rairangpur.

The following morning, Murmu will embark on a 32-km train journey from Badampahar railway station to Rairangpur, her native place in Mayurbhanj district after flagging off three new trains — Tatanagar-Badampahar Memu, Badampahar-Rourkela Express and Shalimar-Badampahar Express. Prior to that, Murmu is scheduled to inaugurate a skill training centre at Pahadpur in Mayurbhanj and interact with local villagers.

She will also virtually inaugurate the new Rairangpur postal division, different projects of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and release a commemorative special cover on Tuesday. She will reach Burla the same day around 4.10 pm and attend the 15th annual convocation of the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla.

On November 22, the President will be the chief guest at the launch of the “National Education Campaign — Rising India through Spiritual Empowerment” organised by Brahma Kumaris at Sambalpur.
