Rain, Thunderstorm Amid Hot & Humid Weather In Odisha For 5 Days; IMD Issues Yellow Warning

Bhubaneswar: Amid slow progress of southwest monsoon, several parts of Odisha are likely to experience rain and thunderstorm coupled with gusty surface wind over the next five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.

Hot and humid weather is expected to prevail in many parts of the state during the period as monsoon is set to further advance into more parts of the state during the next 4-5 days, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said in a bulletin.

There will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during next 3-4 days and the mercury may fall by 2-3 degree Celsius thereafter at many places.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur in some districts of north coastal Odisha, south Odisha and one or two places over the districts of north interior region in the next 24 hours.

The weather agency sounded yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph likely at some places of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi districts during the period.

At the same time, heatwave condition likely to prevail at one or two places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, and Bargarh districts.
Similarly, hot and humid weather may prevail at one or two places of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati during the period.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar.

2) Hot and humid weather is likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning along with gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, and Dhenkanal.

2) Hot & humid weather to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning coupled with gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at some places of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda .

2) Hot & humid weather is likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

June 20

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

2) Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Bargarh.
