Cuttack: The three-member committee probing the alleged sexual assault of two patients by a senior resident doctor of SCB Medical College and Hospital (MCH) will submit its report to the Odisha government on Saturday.

Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET) Prof Santosh Kumar Mishra, who is heading the three-member panel, told media that the inquiry report has already been prepared and it will be submitted to the government shortly.

Stating that the report has been prepared after a thorough probe into the allegation, he said the findings and content of the report can be shared by the government.

“The inquiry report is ready. We will submit it to the government by today evening,” the DMET said.

The committee members had earlier visited SCB MCH as part of the inquiry into the incident before preparing the report.

Notably, the state government had on August 13 constituted the committee to probe the allegations of sexual assault by the resident doctor of Cardiology department of SCB MCH.

The Health and Family Welfare department had mandated the panel to undertake a detailed enquiry into the allegations and recommend appropriate action to the government.

Besides the DMET, the other two members of the probe panel are Prof Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra, Superintendent, SCB MCH, Cuttack and I/C Dean & Principal, SCB MCH, Cuttack, and Prof Roman Ratan, Joint DMET.

The accused doctor, identified as Dilbagh Singh Thakur of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, was arrested on Tuesday based on preliminary investigation conducted into the complaint lodged by the two women at Mangalabag Police Station in the city.

As per sources, the incident took place on August 11 when the patients had come for an echocardiogram (ECHO) test.
