Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital experienced thunderstorm, lighting and rain for the second consecutive day on Tuesday amid yellow warning for four districts – Khurda, Nayagarh, Kandhamal and Ganjam – till 4.15 pm.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, Nuapada, Sonepur, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur till 8.30 am on Wednesday (June 19).
Similar warning has been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj during the subsequent 24 hours.
On Thursday (June 20), thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh districts. There is also a warning of heavy rainfall for Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi districts.
Heavy rainfall may also occur in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Balasore on June 21 and Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh on June 22. Though there is no weather warning thereafter, light to moderate rain may continue at a few places across the state during the subsequent two days.
Hot and Humid weather condition is also likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts till June 20.
The weather agency further informed that conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Odisha during the next 3- 4 days. The day temperature may fall by 2-4 degree Celsius after 2 days, it added.
