US Ambassador Eric Michael Garcetti & Family Visit Puri, Konark Sun Temple

Puri: US Ambassador Eric Michael Garcetti, who is in Odisha, visited the pilgrim town of Puri and Konark along with his wife and children.

According to sources, the US envoy and family visited the Sun Temple in Konark on Sunday morning, a day after they went around the Parikrama of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Saturday.

Garcetti arrived in Konark in the morning and spent over an hour at the iconic Sun Temple. After going around the sprawling UNESCO heritage complex, he praised the skilfully carved sculptures at the Sun Temple.

While necessary security arrangements were made at the site for his visit, senior district and police officials were present.

Earlier on Saturday, Garcetti reached Puri town in the morning and proceeded to Blue Flag beach where he and his family bathed in the sea.

Subsequently, the envoy and his family went around the heritage corridor surrounding the 12th century shrine of Lord Jagannath and siblings.

The Ambassador and his family spent the night at a hotel and he participated in a ‘sunrise yoga’ session on Sunday morning before proceeding to Konark.

Garcetti and his family had also visited had visited Mukteswar temple soon after arrival in Bhubaneswar on Saturday morning.
